We all love to travel but travelling can put additional stress on your body and this can become particularly noticeable in your skin. One of the main reasons for this is the change in climate of the place you are travelling to. To ensure that your skin is kept healthy looking at all times we are going to share some top skincare tips for travelling.

Pack Climate Sensitive Skin Products

Before travelling, take some time to find out more about the climate of your chosen destination. If your chosen destination is drier than you are accustomed to then you may want to consider packing a stronger moisturiser than you would usually use – or apply more of your current moisturiser. Sun protection is also very important and you should try to remain vigilant. People are often caught out by the strength of the sun – the majority of sun screens lose their level of protection over time and you can end up being burnt. Extremes of heat, humidity or cold can sensitise the skin so this is a good time to use gentle, natural products or those for sensitive skin.

It’s simple yet very effective. Moisturiser helps to smooth the skin surface and enhance skin hydration whilst preventing water loss, and ultimately works to keep your skin looking healthy. Travelling is not only tiring but many forms of transport actively dry your skin. Regular moisturising can help reduce the effects of this and moisturiser is a must have for any travel pack. 

Stay Hydrated

Although moisturisers work their best to maintain your skin’s moisture level, it’s essential to keep your body hydrated by drinking lots of water. It is easy to become dehydrated when travelling and the air inside planes and trains can be particularly drying…and where will this show first? On your skin! So make sure you drink plenty of water to fight that fatigue.  

Be a Savvy Shopper

We have all been guilty of packing too much on one occasion or another but there are some great ways to reduce what you take. For example the savvy shoppers amongst us will take advantage of free samples. There are also some great deals to be had on travel sized products and if you just can’t bear to part with your favourite toiletries, how about emptying them into travel bottles – the perfect compromise! All of these approaches will help to keep down the weight of your luggage and ensure that you still have a great range of skincare products with you.

Pack the Essentials

Travel with the five basic skincare essentials. These are cleanser, moisturiser with sunscreen (don’t forget to keep reapplying this throughout the day though!), night treatment, lip hydrator and hand and body lotion. This will help to ensure that your skin remains hydrated and healthy looking throughout the day.  Any non essentials can be bought on your travels and this approach helps keep the weight of your luggage down.
